The current pre-election uncertainty makes me feel frantic, but I need to be soothed. My noisy brain and nervous system cannot take another two weeks of this, and then who knows what.
I am currently in Fairhope, Alabama, one of the prettiest small towns on the planet, known for gorgeous sunsets. And a brisk walk along the pier as the sun went down was just what the doctor ordered.
So if you’re like me, and need to calm down and gaze at something beautiful for a minute, here’s a look from my walk tonight.
And if you can, dear friend, get outside and touch a tree, look at the birds, smile at flowers. Remember that our natural world has been here longer than us, and will still be here when we are gone. The trees don’t care about politics.
Take care of your precious selves.
Thank you. While grilling tonight, I watched the orange glow shift to blue and spotted Venus hanging in the sky. The rhythms of Nature will soothe this anxious spirit.
Welcome! I live in Daphne—this is a beautiful place. And some progressives do live here!
